County fairs and annual festivals celebrate Northeast Ohio communities. An annual late summer favorite is the St. Mary Romanian Festival. This summer’s delectable Romanian treats are available Friday, August 21 and Saturday, August 22, 2020 (drive-through only).
The St. Mary Romanian Orthodox Cathedral was the first Romanian parish established in the United States. America’s oldest Romanian Orthodox Church was founded in Cleveland, Ohio on August 15, 1904. The beautiful current St. Mary Cathedral was designed by renowned Romanian midcentury architect Haralamb Georgescu.

Garlicky Grilled Sausages
- In a large bowl, knead together until smooth:
- 2 pounds of ground beef, locally-sourced if available (Note This recipe also works well with ground pork or ground lamb; or a combination of beef, pork and/or lamb),
- 3-4 cloves of minced garlic,
- 2 tablespoons of Urban Herbs Rib Rub Seasoning (or a 1/2 tablespoon each of: paprika, caraway seeds, coriander and cumin, plus a pinch of hot chili powder),
- 1 teaspoon of Ravine’s Edge Ramp Salt,
- 2 teaspoons of baking soda,
- 3 tablespoons olive oil,
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, overnight is ideal.
- When ready to cook, form the meat mixture into small sausages, roughly 4 inches long.
- Grill over hot coals until browned on all sides and cooked through.
- Enjoy! Served here with a shot of Stadium Mustard and Bread and Butter Ramp Pickles.
